.500

The Tribe was the second best team in baseball after the first week of July (It's true, look it up) but after their disaterous start to the season it was only good enough to fininsh third in the AL Central at a dead even 81-81. Last year's ALCS collapse still stings a bit, but they're a good young team and should be back in the mix next season. I consider myself a true fan. I will perservere.

In other baseball news that I've been meaning to comment on. OMG the Dodgers got Manny from Boston at the trade deadline. MAN-EE. MAN-EE. MAN-EE. MAN-EE. Thank you dumb ass Red Sox management. Thankyouthankyouthankyou. Manny torched NL pitching for the last six weeks of the season, hitting .396 with 17 homers, 53 RBI, a .489 OBP and .743 slugging (if you don't follow baseball, that's just ill. Manny Ramierez is one of the best right handed hitters to ever play the game of baseball.) propelling my adopted baseball team the Dodgers to the NL west title. Which I missed because I'm in god damn New Zealand again. I didn't make it to a game during Siggraph, which makes this only the third(?) year in probably 20 years or so that I didn't see at least one baseball game.

I'm going to feel a little bad when they knock The Cubbies out of the playoffs. As an Indians fan, I feel the pain of the Cubs fans who've been literally waiting a lifetime for a World Series title, but, too bad for you. How does this fairy tale end? Manny hits a game, and series, winning bomb in the seventh game, against the Red Sox. That would be awesome. The Red Sox fans were lovable when they were like the Cubs and Indians fans, but after two recent World Series wins, they're just dicks. Fuck 'em. I hope Manny breaks their hearts.

"Boys" of Summer

Rangers vs Mets got rained out at Shea. I guess some of the Rangers got bored. Ian Kinsler, Milton Bradley, Josh Hamilton, Michael Young and Josh Rupe got in some extracirricular activity.

Close? Yes.

This was so worth it. Although, since I was there, the tribe lost. In the 10th. Garko hit a solo shot, off K-Rod, in the top of the ninth to tie it. It was pretty quiet in the stadium, except for me going apeshit behind home plate. It was awesome. There were fireworks after the game, which was nice. Going again Sunday with the whole gang although we won't be sitting in section 114. Upper deck baby.

Fan

I am the worst fan in the history of baseball. If I want my team to lose, all I have to do is actually show up at the stadium to see the game. The Dodgers are torrid right now. I think they've won 8 of 10 coming into tonight's game with the Mets. I mean, the Mets are good, but, man, the Dodgers are hot. Whoops, take that back because I'm going to the game. And it was actually a pretty decent game, up until some nameless LA reliever threw a bad pitch that David Wright promptly deposited in the left field bleachers, making a 4-1 loss out of a 1-1 game. It never fails, if I go to the game, my team loses.

Tribe

Went to see the Indians and the Angels at The Big A. Got pretty good seats for the whole STFU&GBTW gang. Three rows off the field halfway between 3rd and the foul pole. The Tribe lost, of course, which they always seem to do when I'm there. Of course Cliff Lee pitched a 3 hit complete game shutout the night before. 3 - 2. Tribe loaded 'em up in the 5th but couldn't close the deal. Wasted a pretty decent outing by Byrd.

No more

Well, another year of baseball has come and gone. Lost our playoff game today 4 to 2. It was very close, came down to 2 plays. It really could have gone either way. Hopefully RJ will want to play again next year.

Hello?

When are people going to wake the fuck up to what's going on in this country? It baffles me.

In other news. My little leaguers won their second game, unfortunately that means that they improve to 2 and 8. I really think they've turned a corner. Unfortunately, we play the number one team this weekend. So it's straight into the deep end for my guys.

I'm trying to teach Pandora to play country music, but only funny, upbeat country music, like Brad Paisley, or Jimmy Buffett (I fucking know Buffet isn't country music, call Pandora.com and tell them). It's not working out too well, and now I feel depressed.

Going to Joe Satriani and Eric Johnson at The Grove in Anaheim. Fucking A. I can't wait.

Victory!

Woot. My guys finally won a game. Some great pitching and clutch hitting got them a 7-0 victory to improve to 1-3.

Carrer? Bah.

There's only one, count 'em, one, reason that I'm at work today. I get my hours plus the 8 hours of pay for the vacation, which works out to, oh fuck, who fucking knows, it's a shitload of money for one day of work. Seeing as I know have a vacation for two to the '06 New Orleans Jazz Fest and a week in Cancun for six to try to save for, which is going to easily run me six large, I need to make as much money as humanly possible.

In other news, my little league team is 0-3 after losing an absolute heartbreaker last week. They gave up 4 in the top of the first and then won the rest of the game 2-1. Practice was good Sunday. If they don't win one soon it's going to turn into a mental issue. It's hard enough to get them to throw to the right base. If they keep losing I'm going to have to be a coach and a sports psychologist. The first I can hadle. The second? Jesus, I can barely look after my own metal health, much less 12 third graders.
