Numbers
From TFA (Newsweek poll)
Newsweek also asked poll respondents about modern biology.
Nearly half (48 percent) of the public rejects the scientific theory of evolution; one-third (34 percent) of college graduates say they accept the Biblical account of creation as fact. Seventy-three percent of Evangelical Protestants say they believe that God created humans in their present form within the last 10,000 years; 39 percent of non-Evangelical Protestants and 41 percent of Catholics agree with that view.
These poll results come just a few months after an international study was conducted to measure which countries were the most accepting on evolutionary biology. Of the 34 countries involved, the United States ranked 33rd. Only Turkey ranked lower.

Joke?
Nader wants Gore to run as Green Party Candidate in '08
From TFA.
"Sources close to Gore said Ralph Nader has sought to recruit the former vice president to run as the candidate for the Green Party. They said Gore has not rejected the offer and was consulting with family and friends to determine the feasibility of such a candidacy."
Is this some kind of sick joke? It wasn't enough for Nader to submarine Gore's candidacy in '00, now he wants to use Gore to torpedo the Democratic candidate in '08. Ralph Nader needs to Die In A Fire. Gore will siphon huge numbers of Democratic votes away from the Dem nominee. Does he really want Guilliani to be president? Does he get that this is not a true democracy? Fuck Ralph Nader.

Hey Joe!
Boy, oh boy, was it loud. We skipped Pertrucci, well, we watched on the monitors and listened through the doors while we drank beer and ate nachos in the lobby. Satriani was, of course, incredible. He played Shalla-Bal, Potato Head, Crowd Chant, Always, Blue Dream, Cool #9, Ice 9, Satch Boogie, etc. Lots of stuff from Surfing With The Alien. Then they all played together. Foxy Lady and Purple Haze, Going Down and Some Rolling Stones Tune. The whole thing was almost 4 hours. Pretty cool.

The ladder
The ladder theory.
If it irks ya', it's probably because you know it's true.
"On a related note, this is probably why beautiful people tend to be boring. They never had to be interesting -- being beautiful was always interesting enough."
That, my friends, is gold.

Look what I got !
One of W's friends was giving away their piano. Needs a tuning in a big way, but what the hell. Didn't cost nothin'. I'm way out of practice.
Playhouse Roof
This is from when I finished Saturday, before I had shingled the other side and put the ridge cap on. Don't get too excited, that half of the roof is only about 5'x10'
Back ... Back ... Back ...
In other news, I put the roof on the playhouse this weekend. Roof. As in, tar paper and shingles. It wasn't as difficult as I imagined that it would be. Now I just have to wait for a good hard rain to see if I did a decent job or not. Windows and close up the eaves this weekend and then the girls can start working on the inside. Drywall, paint, ceiling, etc. As soon as I can get the "mobile blogging" to work I'll get some pix from my phone up.
